I know the receiver installed in the Tundra is made by TRW Automotive who also makes the TPMS sensors. I could be wrong on this, but for any aftermarket company to make the sensors, they would have to understand the software programming built into the receiver unit. Someone please correct me if I am mistaken.

I work for the supplier at the Tundra plant that deals with the tire & wheel assembly and since the start of production for the 07 and 08 tundra....the sensors have always been made by TRW.

The style steel wheel as stated before in this thread is the only wheel of all wheels offered that accepts the 40 degree sensor. All other stock wheels get the 20 degree....steel or aluminum. The reason for this is because of the unique construction of the style steel wheel also known as the full face wheel.

I would advise against using the 40 degree TPMS in any other wheel because you can either break the unit due to improper seating. If you flip them over, you will ruin the rubber grommet that helps seal the stem against the valve hole.

Hope this helps.
