You guys need my wife to go with you. I think she could make a business out of haggling with a dealer. The dealer was really eager to sell one off the lot and he deducted the price of some extras that were already on the truck because of her. She let me get them down as much as I could and then she took over and saved us another $2000. We laughed the whole way home.
Here are some tips.
1) Know what you can afford before you walk in the door.
2) It doesn't hurt to ask for anything, the worst they are going to say is "no."
3) Don't tell them a monthly payment, have it roughly figured out before you go.
4) If you don't need an extra, like a bedliner, tell them to either take it off or deduct it from the price.
5) The hardest part especially if you really want the truck that day, tell them you need to go to eat or something else (use your imagination) to think it over. and never take the truck if you go. Tell them you are taking your own vehicle. They find more ways(lower the cost) to get you to sign the paperwork before you leave.
We got a Cold Pack, bedliner, and fender flares taken off the price of the Tundra because anytime the salesman balked we told him,"look we will just order one the way we want it." He changed his tune quickly because he wanted to get one off the lot.
Hope this helps.
