Because our Tundra is a tow vehicle, I was mainly interested in the load range "E" tires. I am a little concerned about the "P" (passenger tire) rating on the BFG's in the TRD Off Road package, though I would guess they are probably OK since the Tundra is rated to tow 10,400 pounds.
We had a blowout on Hal (our old 1978 Chevy 454) on the right front, coming off Cajon Pass south of Victorville (CA) on I-15, right in front of the runaway truck ramp -- scared the living #%$# out of us. We had our Airstream in tow, and it was raining cats and dogs. We switched from LT "D" rated tires to "E" rated Michelin AT-MS after that.
However, Hal was a 3/4 ton pickup and had 8-bolt wheels, and our Tundra has only 5-bolts. The "E" tires are rated up to 80 psi, though probably somewhere between 50-60 psi would be sufficient. Are the TRD alloys rated for this pressure?
