Our Tundra arrived last Thursday, 05/29/08; but we waited until yesterday, 06/03, to close, to see if the rebate would go up.

The wait over the weekend was a little nerve-racking, but it paid off -- the rebate on Tundras went up from $3,000 to $4,500. We were expecting the amount to either stay the same, or perhaps go up another $250 (like at the first of May) or $500. However, the last day or two we were more afraid of the remote possibility of the rebate ending; so what a great surprise to have it go up so much.

We drove our new Tundra home late yesterday -- what an improvement over Hal (our 1978 Chevy, 3/4-ton crewcab, with a 454 v8), though we have a lot of memories from adventures (and breakdowns) over the years.

Now, I hope the rebate doesn't increase on July 4th and Labor day, and don't forget the holidays. However, by then, we will have probably gotten enough enjoyment out of driving the new Tundra to figure it was worth the difference.

Can't believe the difference in power, versus Hal -- and can't wait to take a roadtrip!
