I installed the factory XM and the scoshe ipod adapters under the driver seat this weekend. I have JBL with nav touchscreen. Here's my observations with my iphone.
The biggest and most inconvenient feature is that you can't skip songs or do anything with the ipod via the steering wheel controls. ARRRGHH! I guess you would need an adapter that shows up as a CD changer for that. This one piggy backs through SAT mode. (just to be clear... i haven't lost functionality. the steering controls still work in other modes)
The manual is kind of limited in respect to showing all of the features, but it's easy to use if you play around with it.
When I initially hooked it up and turned it on the ipod sounded really distorted like the level to radio was to hot. The manual says not to hook up ipod till initialization is complete, but there's no explanation to this or how you know it's complete. Well it must have re-initialized by the next time i hooked it up, because it sounds fine now.
When browsing the ipod, you are supposed to use the SCAN button, but if you mistakenly push the SEEK button next to it, the song fast forwards till it reaches the next song and I haven't figured a way to cancel the operation. Doesn't mention this button anywhere in the manual and it's kind of annoying.
Another thing I don't like is that the iPod menu shows up exactly the same on every SAT mode (SAT 1, SAT 2, and SAT 3). This is annoying because you lose preset # 6 on every SAT mode. This becomes the button that switches you to your iPod.
These are my initial observations, but I'm still playing with it and getting used to it. Both are convenient and were easy to install, but I really really miss the steering control. That was the whole reason i bought it and I feel like I haven't gained anything compared to using my iphone through the aux. The only difference now is I have to touch the radio instead of my iphone.
