What the heck was Toyota thinking when they painted these? Oh and to boot, my truck has that protective sealant or whatever it was that they talked me into when I purchased it. I would sure like to know what the $700 protective sealant is protecting against.
Dealer is saying that it is because it is black and scratches show up better.
I have owned many vehicles and none have ever scratched like this.
Welcome to this site. LIke you I did have black trucks.

I haven't had the paint issue yet. I did put a couple of scratches on the tailgate by Home Depot. I also have what you call sealant (TOYOGUARD) on my truck also.
